International Day for the Abolition of Slavery is observed on December 02 every year. 

This day is observed to spread awareness about ending human trafficking and the exploitation of humans. 

The United Nations General Assembly approved the convention of struggle against human trade and prostitution on 2 December 1949. 

The United Nations General Assembly declared 2 December to be the International Day of Abolition of Slavery.

The United Nations General Assembly announced the year 2004 as the year of the abolition of international slavery.
